Polycystic Ovary Disorder (PCOD) problem is a hormonal disorder in women defined by a group of signs and symptoms. This health condition can cause problems with a woman’s menstrual cycle, cardiac function as well as appearance also. Women who have polycystic ovary have multiple small cysts in their ovaries.

PCOS occurs not just in women, but in girls as young as 11! Polycystic ovaries are generally larger in size and denser than the normal ovaries.

Watch out for these symptoms to determine whether you have PCOD or not.

  • Irregular periods

  • Reduced fertility

  • Abnormal weight gain or obesity

  • Heart (cardiac) complications

  • Acne or skin rashes

  •  hair fall

  • Excess facial and body hairs

  • Eat right

If you are obese, weight loss plans and DETOXIFICATION  is all you need.

The more overweight you are, the more likely you are to be insulin resistant whether you have PCOS or not. Losing just 5% of your weight will help lower insulin resistance. Eat more of weight loss foods and avoid sugary, salty, and fatty foods as much as possible. Increase your protein intake by making it at least 30% of your diet; make carbs less than 50% of your diet.

Choose natural or unprocessed food items.

Go for fresh and seasonal fruits/vegetables 

Go for whole grains like wheat,brown rice,oats ,millets etc.

  • Choose nutritious, high–fiber carbohydrates instead of sugary or refined carbohydrates •

 Balance carbohydrates with protein and healthy fats • 

Eat small meals and healthy snacks throughout the day instead of large meals

  • Exercise

Is it important for me to exercise?

 Yes! It’s really important that girls with PCOS  to go for exercise, because exercise brings down insulin levels, and can help with weight loss. Exercise can be especially helpful in lowering insulin after a meal. So, if possible, go for a walk after you eat a large meal. Any increase in exercise helps, so find an activity, sport, or exercise that you enjoy. If you aren’t doing a lot of exercise now, start slowly, and build up to your fitness goal. If you only exercise once in a while, try Moderate exercise such as walking or swimming for at least 30 to 90 minutes every day 

  • De-stress

Chronic stress only makes condition more worse. So, look for ways to de-stress your mind and body. For instance, getting good sleep of at least 7 to 9 hours can help lower  Stress levels and along with that you can go for the treatments like SHIRODHARA, PARISHEKA, TAKRADHARA along with yoga and meditation.
